BABY SHORT ROUND PONCHO

BABY SHORT ROUND PONCHO

Chelle's baby poncho
 
This is Chelle's version of the Short Round Poncho. The picture shown is Chelle's finished baby outfit. She added the rose embellishment and made a matching headband. She has graciously allowed me to post her changes and her picture. You can find the headband instructions at the end of this pattern, compliments of Chelle of Luv to Crochet, but I'm afraid you're on your own for the rose embellishment. Thank you, Chelle, this is beautiful.

Materials: about 5 oz of baby soft dk yarn for both poncho and headband
K hook

size: 12/18 months
 
NOTE 1: do not count beginning chain as a stitch

CHELLE'S EDGING:

ROUND 1: ch 1, (sc, ch 1) in ea ch-1 sp around, join in first sc.

ROUND 2: ch 1, reverse sc in the ch-1 spaces of previous round.

Fasten off, weave in ends.
 
Attach yarn in any st at neck edge and repeat round 1 and round 2 of edging. Fasten off and
weave in ends.


CHELLE'S HEADBAND

For the headband, K hook, I did:

Ch 8

Row 1: sc in 2nd chain from hook, (ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch) to end, ch 4 (counts
as first dc plus ch 1) , turn

Row 2: crossed bar st in first and next ch sp, ch 1, crossed bar st in same sp and in next ch
sp, ch 1, dc in last sc, ch 4, turn

Row 3: Repeat row 2 until headband measures desired length before stretching.

Headband will stretch about an inch to fit also. At the end of your last crossed bar st row,

ch 1, turn

Last Row: sc in each st and sp across (7 sc)

Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing. Sew ends of headband together. Sew on crocheted

flower or rose as desired to finish the look.

SPECIALTY STITCH:
bp sl st = Back Post sl st.
Insert hook into designated hole from BACK to front, insert hook into next hole from FRONT to back.  Your hook is now laying over a post, yo and pull thru both holes, and the loop on hook. BACK POST SL ST made.

ROW 1: ch 2, 7 sc in first ch. Do not join.

ROW 2: *1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, all in the next st*. Repeat from * to * in each st around. Do not join. (7 petals)

Note: Look at the center of the flower. You'll see a center hole that was made by the stitches of row 1, and 7 holes made by the stitches of row 2. The sides of the holes is called the "post".  The stitches of row 3 will be worked around these posts.

ROW 3: working in the hole made from the last petals, insert hook from BACK to front, around the post and into the next hole from front to back. yo and pull thru both holes, and the loop on hook. BACK POST SL ST made. ch 3, *bp sl st around the next post, ch 3,* repeat from * to * around, sl st in first ch. (7 ch-3 spaces).

ROW 4: * 1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc in next ch-3 space.* Repeat from * to * around.

ROW 5: *bp sl st around next post, ch 4, * repeat from * to * around, sl st in first ch.

Materials: J hook; Caron Christmas Glitter, 2 oz white and 3 oz red (amounts are approximate)
Gauge: 6 hdc = 2 inches and 4 rows = 2 inches

NOTE 1: Abbreviations used can be found at the end of the pattern.
NOTE 2: ch 2 at beginning of rows does not count as a stitch.
NOTE 3: numbers in ( ) at end of rows indicates stitch count and is not instructing you to do anything.

ROW 1: WITH WHITE, (ch 4, dtr in 4th ch from hook) repeat 13 times. Join with sl st to first ch. Be careful not to twist the clusters (14 clusters)

Mr Stylin Santa Hat

Adult size 22" to 24"
Rating: Intermediate

Materials: K hook; Caron Christmas Glitter, 2 oz white and 3 oz red (amounts are approximate)
Gauge: 6 hdc = 2 inches and 4 rows = 2 inches

NOTE 1: Abbreviations used can be found at the end of the pattern.
NOTE 2: ch 2 at beginning of rows does not count as a stitch.
NOTE 3: numbers in ( ) at end of rows indicates stitch count and is not instructing you to do anything.
NOTE 4: when you see "ch-" followed by a number, example ch-3, it is referring to a space made by the
chains of the previous row. It is not instruction you do do anything.

SPECIALTY STITCH:
Crossed Bar Stitch - yo, insert hook in st or sp indicated, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yo, insert hook
in next st or sp indicated, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook), yo, draw thru all 5 loops on hook - crossed bar stitch made.

ROW 1: WITH WHITE, ch 64, join to first ch, be careful not to twist chain.
ch 1, sc in same st as join, ch 1, (sk 1 ch, sc in next ch, ch 1) around. (64 sts - count sc's and ch-1 spaces)

ROW 2: ch 2, yo, pull up a loop in same st as join. (3 loops on hook)
sk next ch-1 space
yo, pull up a loop in next sc (5 loops on hook)
yo, pull thru all 5 loops. CROSSED BAR ST MADE.
*ch 1, yo, pull up a loop in same st as last st (3 loops on hook)
sk next ch-1 sp

Fasten off white and turn cuff inside out.

With wrong side facing you, attach red in any ch-1 space of row 7.

ROW 41 thre 42: ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as join, 1 hdc in ea st around. Join in first hdc. (13 hdc)

ROW 43 (decrease row): ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as join, (2 hdc tog) 6 times. Join in first hdc. (7 hdc)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for stiching top of hat together.

Turn hat inside out. Use tail and weave thru stitches of row 43. Pull tight to close hole. Weave in ALL
ends. Turn hat right side out.

With white, make a pom pom and attach it to the top of hat. Turn up the white cuff and you're good to go!

Rating: Intermediate – pattern uses the "flower stitch" which can be quite complicated for some.

second drawstring trough same spaces in opposite directions, tie ends of drawstring
together. Trim off tails.

approximately 340 yds (170 yds each strand)

ROW 1: ch 3, 11 dc in first ch. Join in first dc. (12 dc counting first 2 chains as a st) 

ROW 2: ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, 2 dc in each st around, 1 dc in same space as the ch 2, join in first dc. (24 dc)

ROW 3: ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, (1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) around. join in first dc. (36 dc)

ROW 4 thru 11: ch 2, 1 dc in ea st around, join in first dc. (36 dc)

ROW 12: ch 1, sc in ea st around, join in first sc. (36 sc)
