SO SIMPLE WIMPLE
copyright © 091704 Dot Matthews

Materials:
L hook for chain
K hook for pattern
ww yarn, 5 oz approximately
gauge: not important
Ch 90, join in 1st ch to form a ring. Be careful not to twist chain.
ROW 1: ch 1, sc in same st as join, ch 1, (sk 1 st, sc in next st, ch 1) around, join in first sc. (45 ch-1 spaces and 45 sc)
ROW 2: turn, (sc in ch-1 space, ch 1) around. Join in first sc. (45 ch-1 spaces and 45 sc)
ROW 3 through 57: repeat row 2. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Note 1: when turning your work, do not ch 1
Note 2: it's not really necessary to count rows, just continue until piece fits the way you like it.
TIP: If you're worried about the chain twisting, replace the beginning chain and row 1 with this... ch 91, sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, sk 1 st, (sc in next st, ch 1, sk next st) across, join in first sc and continue with row 2. A simple stitch when you weave in ends will close the small gap that this will leave.

yo, draw thru 3 loops on hook
ch 1 to close cluster.
STEP 2: ch 6, holding last loop of ea st on hook
2 dtr in 6th ch from hook (3 loops on hook – leave them there)
STEP 3: holding last loop of ea st on hook,
3 dtr in eye of first cluster of row 1 (6 loops on hook – leave them there)
STEP 4: holding last loop of ea st on hook
3 dtr in eye of next cluster (9 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru all 9 loops
ch 1 to close the cluster
STEP 5: ch 6, holding last loop of ea st on hook
2 dtr in 6th ch from hook (3 loops on hook – leave them there)
STEP 6: holding last loop on hook,
3 dtr in SAME eye (6 loops on hook – leave them there)
STEP 7: holding last loop on hook,
3 dtr in NEXT eye of cluster (9 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru all 9 loops
ch 1, to close cluster.
Repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 until you have 8 "eyes" on row 2, you will be at the corner.
CORNER
A: repeat step 5 (3 loops on hook)
B: repeat step 6 (6 loops on hook)
C: yo, draw thru all 6 loops on hook, ch 1 to close cluster
repeat step 5, 6, and 7 once
repeat A, B, and C once. Place a marker in the eye just made . Marker will be used for counting purposes.
corner made
SIDE
Repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 to next corner. There will be 20 eyes counting the marked one and the one you just finished.
Repeat instructions for corner and side, around.
End with
repeat step 5 (3 loops on hook)
repeat step 6 (6 loops on hook)
insert hook in eye of beginning cluster,
yo, draw thru eye and 6 loops on hook
ch 1 to close.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
NECKLINE
We are going to do the exact same stitch around the neck as we did around the bottom, only using dc clusters instead of dtr clusters.
Join yarn in 6th ch-1 sp from any inside corner.
STEP 1: ch 4, holding last loop of ea st on hook
2 dc in 3rd ch from hook (3 loops on hook – leave them there)
STEP 2: sk next ch-1 sp, holding last loop of ea st on hook,
3 dc in next sp (6 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru all 6 loops.
STEP 3: ch 4, holding last loop of ea st on hook
2 dc in 3rd ch from hook (3 loops on hook – leave them there)
STEP 4: holding last loop of ea st on hook,
3 dc in same space as last cluster (6 loops on hook)
STEP 5: sk 1 sp, holding last loop of ea st on hook,
3 dc in next sp (9 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru all 9 loops on hook
ch 1, to close the cluster.
Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 around,
ending with
ch 4, holding last loop of ea st on hook, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook,
yo, draw thru 3 loops on hook
Join with sl st in eye of first cluster.
Fasten off, weave in ends.

FLOWER HAT
copyright © 10/17/04 Dot Matthews

MATERIALS: J hook; ww yarn approximately 2 oz
I would rate this hat Advanced
Row 6 Tutorial
Note 1: beginning chain does not count as a stitch
Note 2: join in first "real" stitch of round, ignoring beginning chain
Note 3: numbers in ( ) at end of rows depicts number of stitches for the row
Note 4: "eye" refers to the ch 1 that colsed a cluster
ABBREVIATIONS USED:
ch = chain
cluster = group of stitches worked all in the same stitch
dc = double crochet; wrap yarn around hook 1 time and work off loops 2 at a time.
ea = each
dtr = double treble; wrap yarn around hook 3 times and work off 2 loops at a time.
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
st = stitch
yo = yarn over; wrap yarn around hook
ROW 1: ch 3, 12 dc in first st. Join in first dc. (12 sts)
ROW 2: ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, 2 dc in ea st around. Join in first dc. (24 sts)
ROW 3: ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as join, 1 dc in next st, (2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st) around. Join in first dc. (36 sts)
ROW 4: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, 1 dc in next 2 sts, (2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 2 sts) around. Join in first dc. (48 sts)
ROW 5: ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, 1 dc in next 3 sts, (2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 3 sts) around. Join in first dc. (60 sts)
ROW 6:
step 1: ch 6,
holding last loop of ea st on hook,
2 dtr in 6th ch from hook (3 loops on hook - leave them there)
step 2: sk 5 sts
holding last loop of ea st on hook,
3 dtr in next st (6 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru 6 loops on hook
ch 1 to close cluster
step 3: ch 6,
holding last loop of ea st on hook
2 dtr in 6th ch from hook (3 loops on hook - leave them there)
step 4: holding last loop of ea st on hook
3 dtr in same st as last cluster (6 loops on hook - leave them there)
step 5: sk 5 sts
holding last loop of ea st on hook
3 dtr in next st (9 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru all 9 loops
ch 1 to close cluster
note: the last step 5 cluster of row 6 is worked in the base of the first ch-6
Repeat steps 3 - 4 - 5 around, ending with
repeat step 3 (3 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru 3 loops
join with sl st in eye of first cluster.
ROW 7: This row is worked in the eyes made in row 6 instead of skipping stitches.
step 1: ch 6
holding last loop of ea st on hook
2 dtr in 6th st from hook
yo, draw thru 3 loops
ch 1 to close cluster
step 2: ch 6
holding last loop of ea st on hook
2 dtr in 6th st from hook (3 loops on hook - leave them there)
step 3: holding last loop of ea st on hook
3 dtr in same eye as first cluster (6 loops on hook - leave them there)
step 4: holding last loop of ea st on hook
3 dtr in next eye (9 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru 9 loops
ch 1 to close cluster
Repeat steps 2 - 3 - 4 around, ending with
repeat step 2 and 3 (6 loops on hook)
yo draw thru 6 loops
ch 1 to close cluster
join with sl st in eye of first cluster.
Note: row 8 is worked in the eyes and the ch-6 of the first clusters, place the stitch around the chain instead of in it.
ROW 8: ch 1, sc in same st as join, ch 3, (1sc in next ch-6, ch 3, sc in next eye, ch 3) around, end with sl st in last eye, sl st in first sc to join.
ROW 9: ch 1, sc in same st as join, (2 sc in ch-3 sp, sc in next sc, 2 sc in ch-3 sp) around. Join in first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Materials: K hook; ww yarn
FOUNDATION ROW:
(Ch 6,
2 dtr in 6th ch from hook, (3 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru all 3 loops
ch 1, to close the cluster)
repeat until you reach the length you want your scarf to be, be sure to end with an even
number of clusters.
Row 1: hold last loop of ea st on hook until told to draw thru
step 1: ch 6, 2 dtr in 6th ch from hook (3 loops on hook)
step 2: 3 dtr in first eye (6 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru all 6 loops
ch 1 to close cluster
step 3: ch 6, 2 dtr in 6th ch from hook (3 loops on hook)
step 4: 3 dtr in same space as last cluster (6 loops on hook)
step 5: 3 dtr in next eye (9 loops on hook)
yo, draw thru all 9 loops
ch 1 to close cluster
ROW 2: repeat row 1
EDGING
ROW 1: ch 1, turn, sc in first eye, (ch 3, sc in ch-6 of cluster, ch 3, sc in next eye) all the
way around the scarf. Join in first sc.
ROW 2: ch 1, sc in first sc, (3 sc in ch-3 sp, sc in next sc) around, join in first sc.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Add tassels if you want.
