RIBBED SKI HAT

Hat measures 14" from top of head to bottom of neck ribbing
MATERIALS USED:
K Hook
Red Heart Supersaver, ww 4 ply, approximately 5 oz camouflage
blunt needle
gauge: 7 rows = 2", 6 sts = 2"
Abbreviations:
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
ea - each
st - stitch
sl st - slip stitch
NOTE: do not join rounds, place a marker in the first stitch to count rounds. Move the marker up at the end of each round.
NOTE: number in ( ) at end of rounds is not an instruction, it is stating the number of stitches for the round.
NOTE: ch-32 space refers to the space made in the previous row by chaining 32 and skipping 32 stitches.
NOTE: sc over the ch-32 space means to crochet around the chain and not into the individual stitches of the chain.
ROUND 1: ch 2, 12 sc in first ch. do not join round. (12 sc)
ROUND 2: 2 sc in ea st around. (24 sc)

NECK RIBBING
NOTE: neck ribbing is worked in rows in back loops only.
NOTE: for longer neck ribbing, make the beginning chain longer.
NOTE: mark the last stitch of row 3 so you can find the stitch placement of the first stich of row 2.
ROW 1: ch 16, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 14 ch across. sl st in base of ch 16, sl st in next st. Turn, DO NOT CH 1. (15 sc)
ROW 2: working in back loops only, sc in next 15 sts, ch 1, turn. (15 sc)
ROW 3: working in back loops only, sc in next 15 sts, sl st in next 2 sts of last round of hat body. Turn, DO NOT CH 1. (15 sc)
Repeat rows 2 and 3 around last row of hat body.
At the end of last row of ribbing, and working thru back loops and opposite side of foundation ch, sl st in next 15 sts to close the seam.

WORK ENTIRE PATTERN IN BACK LOOPS ONLY
ROW 1: ch 31, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea st to end, ch 1, turn (30 sc)
ROW 2 thru ROW 64: sc in ea st across, ch 1, turn. (30 sc)
At the end of row 64, work thru back loops and opposite side of foundation ch, sl st in ea st across.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

350 yds 3 ply sport weight soft yarn
The yarn I used was donated to me and is a brand I've never seen before. The label says "Super Soft 3" and it's "imported by Lana Moro Inc. in New York". Caron Simply Soft would be a good substitute.
I used 2 1 3/4 oz skeins.
Blunt needle

PRETTY AS A PEACOCK STOLE

Materials: K hook; 16 oz Bernat Super Value, 1 oz contrasting yarn for trim.
Stitches used: chain, single crochet, slip stitch, treble (triple)
This pattern stitch is called "peacock stitch" and is found on page 76 in "The Crochet Stitch Bible", by Betty Barnden.
Abbreviations used:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
sk = skip
tr = treble
ch-# = chain followed by a dash, followed by a number, refers to a chain made in the previous round. example ch-3
Size: 21" x 63" rectangle
Gauge: 4 rows = 3" each scallop = 3"
Gauge and size is approximate. When measuring, please take into consideration, your stole and my stole may not be EXACTLY the same size. Mine might have been stretched a little more, or less, than yours when measured.
INSTRUCTIONS
ROW 1: ch 181, sc in 2nd ch from hook, *sk 4 ch, 9 tr in next ch, sk 4 ch, 1 sc in next ch. Repeat from * to end. Turn.
HINT: skip 4 stitches, place a marker in the next stitch, across the chain to keep from losing stitches.
ROW 2: ch 4, 1 tr in first sc, *ch 3, sk 4 tr, 1 sc in next tr, ch 3, sk 4 tr, 2 tr in next sc. Repeat from * across, end with 2 tr in last sc. Turn.
ROW 3: ch 1, sc BETWEEN the first 2 tr, *sk ch-3, 9 tr in next sc, sk ch-3, 1 sc BETWEEN the next 2 tr. Repeat from * across, end with 1 sc BETWEEN last tr and turning ch. Turn.
Repeat row 2 and 3 to desired width. End with Row 2.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
TRIM
With right side facing, attach contrasting color in top of beginning chain of last row completed. (this is the top edge)
ROW 1:
TOP EDGE: ch 1, 3 sc in same st as join, sc in next tr, *3 sc in next ch-3 space, 1 sc in next sc, (1 sc in next tr) twice. Repeat from * across top edge, end with 3 sc in last tr of top edge.
SIDE EDGE 1: *3 sc in side of next tr, 1 sc in side of next sc. Repeat from * across side edge, end with 3 sc in the corner.
BOTTOM EDGE: *3 sc in next ch-3 space, 1 sc in the bottom of the next tr cluster, 3 sc in next ch-3 sp, 1 sc in next sc, repeat from * across bottom edge, end with 3 sc in the corner.
SIDE EDGE 2: Repeat side edge 1. Join in first sc.

SPECIALTY STITCHES INSTRUCTIONS
Crossed Bar Stitch - yo, insert hook in st or sp indicated, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yo insert hook in next st or sp indicated, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook), yo draw thru all 5 loops on hook - crossed bar stitch made.
Increase Cluster – yo, insert hook in st or sp indicated, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook) yo, insert hook in same st, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook) yo, draw thru all 5 loops on hook - cluster made.
Beginning shell – ch 3, dc in same st, ch 1, 2 dc in same st
Shell – 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in same st.
INSTRUCTIONS:
ROUND 1: ch 70, join with a sl st to first ch to form a circle. Be careful not to twist chain. Ch 1, sc in same st as join, ch 1, *sk 1 st, sc in next st, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join with slip st in first sc. (35 sc and 35 ch-1 sps)
ROUND 2: sl st into next ch-1 sp,
ch 2, yo, pull up a loop in same ch-1 sp,

Tip: Start the first cbs of every round in the same st as the join. The next

ROW 3 (increase row): ch 2, yo, pull up a loop in first ch-1 sp,
yo, pull up a loop in next ch-1 sp,
yo, draw thru all 5 loops on hook (crossed bar stitch made)

TIP: When you come to the beginning chain 2, place your hook between

Tip: shell in next shell = shell in ch 1 of next shell

Tip: for a shorter poncho, do fewer rows, for a longer poncho, continue
repeating rounds 9, 10 and 11, end with round 11.
ROUND 24: ch 1, sc in same st as join, 1 sc in ea dc, 2 sc over ea ch-2 sp, 1 sc in ea sc, (sc, ch 2, sc) in center of ea shell around. Join in first sc.

NECK EDGE
Attach yarn in any space on neck edge.
ROUND 1: ch 2, (work in ch-1 spaces) cbs, ch 1 around. Join in first ch-1 space.

GENTLE RIPPLES

Size – Adult, up to 2x
Gauge is approximate: 13 sc measured at end of round 4 = 4"; 1 arch measured from the top of the V stitch to the bottom of the 7 dc's = 2"; 1 arch measured from sc to sc = 3". Your gauge my not be exactly the same as mine because I may have stretched mine more or less then you.
Materials: K hook, 3 6 oz skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn (approximately 700 yds), blunt needle, scissors
TIP: I used 2 full 6 oz skeins and a small amount from a third for the neck edging, you will have a lot of the 3rd skein left over.
Stitches Used: slip stitch, chain, single crochet, double crochet,
Crossed Bar Stitch - yo, insert hook in st or sp indicated, pull up a loop (3 loops
on hook), yo insert hook in next st or sp indicated, pull up a loop (5 loops on
hook), yo draw thru all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 - crossed bar stitch made.
Double Treble – wrap yarn around hook 3 times, insert hook in designated stitch or
space, pull yarn through stitch or space, 5 loops on hook, (yo, pull yarn through 2 loops)
4 times.
Picot – chain 3, slip stitch in first chain.
V stitch – double crochet, chain 2, double crochet all in same stitch.
