Thank you so much for this pattern. I found it when I was looking for a pattern for a baby shower gift. I absolutely love it. The one I made was yellow and I used a multi-color yarn for the border. It came out beautiful. I'm definitely going to make it again. Thank you.

Hi Dot,

I have made a few of things you have posted and have enjoyed each one. You are very creative with your stitches. I have been crocheting for 32 years and have been more challenged by your designs than any others. The reverse hdc was really nice. Thanks again for your designs.

I am so happy to find this pattern, it will help me figure out how to crochet a picnic basket! Yes friends and little tykes like crochet picnic basket to play house with and this may help me to do that. If I am successful with this I will write and shal how I did it with your help and inspiration ok?

Hi Jennifer, I've got some of that ticker tape yarn but haven't tried to use it yet. I'd love to hear how your project turns out.

Well, maybe if I wasn't up so late my mind would work better. Doesn't matter, I like both patterns. I actually made a pattern over Christmas with some great "ticker tape" yarn that was on clearance. I wanted a shawl and just did it in double crocet with a slight increase on each row. Unfortunately, the increase wasn't enough so it will be a doover, now it is a wip :)
I tried many pattern stitches before I decided on straight dc. The pattern seemed to take away from the texture and "drama" of the yarn. It wasn't very fun really to roll the yarn, since I didn't want it to be twisted, so I'm putting off taking it apart.

Hi Jennifer, I was just being silly when I named the poncho. I had to frog it so many times I called it the Do Over, get it...Doover. I still can't figure out what I was thinking when I typed wil.

Thanks, Dot
the wil, wip question came from the doover poncho. I guess I was a little slow on the uptake - I couldn't figure out what a doover was either :)
I'm going to try the reverse crochet. I've never heard of it.
You are wonderful, in my opinion, by the way to respond to every post on here. You must really love people.

Hi Jennifer, I'm glad you found my site too. I hope you enjoy the patterns. WIP = work in progress; WIL - I don't know, but WIM = work in mind.
reverse hdc is worked exactly the same way as hdc but instead of working it in the next stitch you work it in the opposite direction, in my case since I'm right handed, that would be the stitch to the right.
Here's a link to a reverse single crochet to show you the direction I'm talking about. http://www.anniesattic.com/crochet/content.html?content_id=17

Hi Dot
I'm so glad to find this website. (Thanks to about.com) I love to make things for my friends and family. I have tonight found many patterns to try. I have a few questions about abbreviations -
WIP, WIL, and what is reverse hdc?
I know hdc, but not the reverse part, does it mean from the back?

Hi Hannah. I know. The hosts of my blog made some changes and now I don't know how to make my pictures links anymore. I'm hoping they will add the options back in that they had before. Thanks for letting me know, though. I appreciate it.

I noticed that for this pattern you have to click on the name of the pattern in order to get to the pattern itself. If you click on the picture it jut shows up enlarged. For all your other patterns you can just click on the picture and go the the pattern. This is not that important but I'd just thogut I'd let you know. I don't want people to miss this really neat pattern.
