BABY BOWS AND ARROWS PONCHO

Baby Bows and Arrows
This pattern is untested
Skill: Intermediate
Size: 3 to 6 months.
(For larger sizes repeat rounds 7, 8, and 9)
Hook size: F/5-3.75mm Boye
Yarn: 236 yds Bernat Baby Coordinates - white (poncho pictured took about 1/2 of a 6 oz skein) -  75.2% acrylic; 22.2% acetate; 2.6% nylon
Supplies used: scissors, blunt needle, tape measure, stitch marker, 1 to 2 yds ribbon
Gauge: 9 sc = 2"
Measurements: wrist to wrist = app 19"; neck to hem measurement = 7" at point,
Stitches used: chain, single crochet, double crochet, slip stitch;
Abbreviations: ch = chain; sc = single crochet; dc = double crochet; sl st = slip stitch; tog = together; ea = each; st(s) = stitch(es); sk = skip; beg = beginning; sp = space

PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS

FOUNDATION: ch 80, join with sl st to first sc, be careful not to twist ch.

ROUND 1: ch 4, *sk next ch, dc in next ch, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join in 3rd ch of beg ch. (40 dc, 40 ch-1 sps)

ROUND 2: sl st in first ch-1 sp, ch 6 (counts as first dc and chain 3), dc in same st, ch 3, 
sk next sp,
*(dc, ch 3, dc) in next sp,
ch 3, sk next sp. Repeat from * around. Join in 3rd ch of beg ch. (40 ch-3 sps)

ROUND 3:  sl st in ch-3 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 3, 2 dc in same ch-3 sp, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp,
* (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-3 sp,
3 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join in top of beg ch.
(20 ch-3 sps)

ROUND 4: sl st in next st, sl st in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in same ch-3 sp.
*sk next dc,
dc in next dc,
ch 5, sk next 3 dc,
dc in next dc,
sk next dc,
(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-3 sp.
Repeat from * around, ending with sk next dc, dc in next dc, ch 5, sk next 3 dc, dc in next dc, sk next dc, join in 3rd ch of beg ch. (20 ch-3 sps, 20 ch-5 sps)

ROUND 5: sl st in next st, sl st in next ch-3 sp, ch 3 (dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in same sp,
sk next 2 dc,
dc in next dc,
ch 5, dc in next dc,
sk next 2 dc,
*(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-3 sp,
sk next 2 dc,
dc in next dc,
ch 5, dc in next dc,
sk next 2 dc, Repeat from * around, Join in top of beg ch. (20 ch-3 sps, 20 ch-5 sps)

ROUND 6: sl st in next st, sl st in next sp, ch 3,
(dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in same sp,
* sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc,
ch 3, sc around chs of last 2 rounds
ch 3, dc in next dc, sk next 2 dc
(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-3 sp.
Repeat from * around.
End with ch 3, sc around chs of last 2 rounds, ch 3, dc in next dc. Join in top of beg ch. (60 ch-3 sps and 20 scs)

ROUND 7: sl st in next st, sl st in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in same ch-3 sp.
*sk next 2 dc,
dc in next dc,
ch 5, dc in next dc,
sk next 2 dc,
(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-3 sp. Repeat from * around, ending with sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 5, dc in next dc, sk next 2 dc, join in 3rd ch of beg ch. (20 ch-3 sps, 20 ch-5 sps)

ROUND 8: Repeat round 7.

ROUND 9: Repeat round 6 (3 to 6 months size, stop here, skip to finishing round)

Piece measures 6" from neck to point on hem at end of round 9

TIP:  for larger sizes, repeat round 7, 8, and 9 until poncho is as long as you want. End with round 9, then do finishing round and neck edge.

FINISHING ROUND: ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), hdc in same st as join, hdc in next st,
(2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in next ch-3 sp,
hdc in next 3 sts,
3 sc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next sc, 3 sc in next ch-3 sp,
*hdc in next 3 sts
(2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in next ch-3 sp
hdc in next 3 sts
3 sc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next sc, 3 sc in next ch-3 sp.
Repeat from * around. end with 1 hdc in last st, Join in first hdc (ignore the beg
ch 2)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

NECK EDGE

ROUND 1: with right side of poncho facing you, join yarn in any ch-1 sp on neck edge.
ch 1, 2 sc in same place as join,
*2 sc in next,
Repeat from * around. Join in first sc. (80 sc)

ROUND 2: ch 1, sc in same st as join,
*ch 3, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st. Repeat from * around, end with ch 3, sk next 2 sts, join in first sc. 

ROUND 3: sl st in next ch-3 sp, ch 1, 3 sc in same sp, *3 sc in next sp. Repeat from * around. Join in first sc. 

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Weave ribbon through round 1 of poncho. Tie in a bow.

Trying the pattern Baby Bows and Arrows. After the foundation row , row 1 says sk next dc, but there are only chain stitches no dc.
