Lil' Darlin' Hat

11/26/05 I'd like to thank Lonna for testing this pattern for me. She said "I just finished the Lil' Darlin Baby Hat with earflaps and the pattern seems fine to me."

for smaller hat use G for 14"; H for 16" or
GAUGE: 7 dc = 2" with J hook;
4 rows with J hook = 5 1/2";with G hook = 4 1/2"; with H hook = 5";

Great hat!!

I was just looking through all of the projects that I did last year and I made a hat very similar to this, never did get a chance to write the pattern down. You can see my version here http://crazycrafter.blogspot.com/2005/04/cluster-shell-hat-12-mos.html

I hope you have a good New Years!

Hi Dot,
I wanted to say a big thank you for your baby hat pattern with the ear flaps. I am an advanced beginner at crochet, and I was a bit nervous to try the hat. You explained everything so well, and your tips really helped. My hat turned out so great on the first try! I will be making more for gifts.
Thank you,
Rosemary

Thank you, Joanne, I'm glad you like my patterns. Your suggestion is a good one and I'll try to do better in the future. Most of my hat patterns are done with worsted weight yarn which is 4 ply. the sport weight yarns I use are 3 ply. I hope this helps.

Hi Dot.
I just had to write to tell you how wonderful your patterns are. Here in Scotland crochet is a dying art so patterns are VERY thin on the ground.I couldn't believe my luck when I found your site.My only question is about the ply's of the wool.Would it be possible to give an approx.ply as our wools are different to yours.
Once again thank you.
Cheers Joanne.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! I can't stress enough the talent you have and how timely you seem to share your patterns! I was invited to a baby shower with a 1 week notice and had no idea what to make, till I saw the baby hat. I whipped one up last night and decided I wanted to make it a tad bit bigger...had to use an I hook to get the smallest gauge...and make the ties a little longer (ch 35 instead of 25) and it's perfect! I will save the smaller one to give to a small or preemie baby, even though it really isn't that small. Thank you!
