I have your page linked from mine and your photos have been broken for some time now. Have you abandoned this page?

Hi Dot, ...This poncho is simply gorgeous. And your hats are out of this world! How do you do it!?! I have been all over the internet and seen many patterns, but yours are by far the best! And they can be adapted for almost any size from small to the sky is the limit. You have been blessed with a wonderful gift Dot. I look forward to seeing new patterns, but there are so many already that I will never run out. Thank you so very much.

I want to make this for a toddler. What are the measurements of the neck opening? I think if I begin with the correct number of chains there everything else would work proportionally (baring I shorten the length, no?

I was looking at your beautiful Pleasing Pineapple Poncho and was wondering if you could tell me how I could adjust the starting chain to make a skirt. This would be for a plus size.

Hi Monica, sorry you're having trouble with this round. You're going to slip stitch in the first 3 chains to get over the chain, then you will slip stitch in the next st which is the first stitch of the shell, then you will dc in the next 5 stitches and skip the last stitch of the shell.
You will skip the first and last stitch of each shell on this round. Hope this helps. I sent you an email.

I'm having trouble with Round 11. I just can't seem to understand the directions...my fault I am sure. I read: Slip stich in next three chain (why not say stitch or am I misunderstanding?) slip stitch in next stitch, single crochet in next 5 stitches, chain 5, skip first stitch of next shell (at this point I am at the end of the first shell???) single crochet in next 5 stitches, chain 5, skip last stitch of shell. Repeat from star...which means I then need to skip first stitch of next shell...but I am at the last stitch of the first shell still! HELP!

Hi Patty, I usually use Red Heart Super Saver too, but I had the Caron pounder on hand and decided to use it. It's a little thinner than the red heart, so that's why it doesn't look as drapey, but I'm sure it's going to be beautiful when you finish it. I'd love to know how much yarn and how many more rounds you had to do. I can't wait to find out how it turns out. I hope you can share a picture.
Happy hookin'.

Hi Dot, I making this poncho. It is so pretty. I'm using Red Heart super saver, and I'm going to need to do quite a few more rows. It seems to not be as "drapy" as yours is on the manniquin. I'll let you know how much extra yarn, and how many extra sets of rounds I needed to make. I'm using the same hook as in the pattern.

Thanks Dot. Mine sits on my collar bone too, so I must be ok. I'll post a photo as soon as I get it finished. :-)

Hi Kim, your poncho sounds beautiful. I can't wait to see it when you're done. I also wear a 1X or 2X and the poncho fits me fine. I think the neckline looks larger on the mannequin cuz she's small (I hate her lol) I'm trying to think how to describe where it fits on me...OK, I got it...the neckline, on me, is right at my collar bone. If you haven't already done it, you should try it on and see how it looks on you now. I'm hoping it will be OK. Let me know how this turns out.

Hi Dot, I am making this poncho in variegated Gemstone Red Heart super saver yarn. I know this yarn is slightly thicker than the Caron Simply soft you used. I'm using a size I hook like the pattern calls for and am on the 3rd repeat of round 12. I'm noticing that my neckline seems kind of tight. I normally wear between 1x and 2x. Is my neckline tighter smaller than the picture because of the yarn I am using? Or does it just look bigger on the mannequin? By the way, my poncho is coming along beautifully, I am just worried I might be making it too small.

Hi Stephanie, your poncho sounds lovely. I just measured my poncho and it's 21" from neckline to hemline. It can be made longer by repeating rounds 11, 12 and 13 until you have it as long as you want it, then do the last round. I think all of my patterns can be made longer by repeating the rounds of the pattern until you have the length you want.

Hi Dot,

I just finished making this one last night (took 3 nights while watching tv). I used a beautiful Patons Canadiana varigated in roses and taupes and used Bernat Boa in the same colours for trim around the neck and edge. Question for you: your model dolly must be small - because this poncho did not come past my hips like your shows - just past my elbows in fact.
Cheers,
Steph

Hi Joanne, the cbs is worked in the spaces of the previous round. Think of the cbs as having 2 legs. YO, insert hook in designated space, yo and pull yarn thru loop (first leg done), Now, yo and insert hook in NEXT space, yo and pull yarn thru space. (2nd leg done) At this point you will have 5 loops on your hook. Now, yo and pull yarn through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 (that completes the cbs.

The first "LEG" of the next cbs is worked in the same place as the second leg of the previous stitch.

The last cbs of your round is done with the 2nd leg ending up in the same space as your first cbs stitch.

I hope this helps. There are no cbs stitches in Elegant Lace, that stitch is done in the Gentle Ripples and Diamonds and Lace ponchos.

Let me know if you still need help on this stitch. You'll be surprised at how easy it is once it clicks for you.

Dot,
I can't quite figure out the cbs stitch, i want to know if you go only into the spaces or if you go into the next stitch to complete the stitch? Guess I need to look at the picture better.
I am so excited to try this pattern, i do believe the one i was trying was the elegant lace. thank you joanne
