I'm new to crochet and I just seem to be having an impossible time figuring out the ribbing and how it attaches to the hat. The yarn seems to end up in front after the first two rows when I try to slip stitch it to the hat body. Can anyone offer some help that won't confuse a rookie?
Thank you!!

Hi Dot,
Love the pattern. I've made two of these in two days. They work up fast. I typically donate my hats to cancer patients. But these are for my son and daughter-in-law in Montana.

Thanks for the great and easy to follow directions. They help me stay creative and happy during the cold winter months.

Hi Peggy, I'd try using a H hook and stop increasing rounds when the flat part of the circle measures about 6 1/3" across. Keep in mind, I'm only guessing. I do know that you want the top part (the flat part) of the hat to be 6 1/3". The face opening is done by making a chain the length of you want the face opening to be, so just measure your chain against his face.

Hope that helps.

Hi again Dot, I just finished!!!
Your pattern worked up wonderfully.
I added a couple rows in the chin and forehead areas to fit me. I have a large forehead, lol. Tomorrow I'm going to make a matching ski mask for my husband. Thank you again Dot.
P.S. This weekend when hubbie and I are on the ski-doos we will be nice and warm, thanks to you.

Hello Dot, I was searching for a ski hat pattern for my husband and came across your pattern. My poor husband will have to wait to get a ski mask because I'll be making this 1 for myself.
Thank you

Hi Dorothy. Glad you like the pattern. I don't knit, so I don't have any knitting patterns. You might try Knitting Pattern Central. You'll find a lot of pattern links there and they all have pictures. Here's a link to the site. http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/
